Guido Carrillo could make his Premier League debut for Southampton when they host Brighton on Wednesday night.
The striker, signed from Monaco last week, came on as a late substitute in the FA Cup win over Watford but is now pushing for a start despite not being completely match-fit.
Ryan Bertrand (hamstring) was withdrawn during the victory over the Hornets but could feature, while Charlie Austin is back in training although not ready for a return following his own hamstring issue.
Leonardo Ulloa is in contention to make his second Brighton debut after rejoining on loan from Leicester.
Fellow new signing Jurgen Locadia is still recovering from a hamstring injury but should begin training next week.
The Seagulls are waiting to discover the extent of the ankle injury suffered by winger Jiri Skalak against Middlesbrough at the weekend.
