Arsenal taking action on Emirates mouse problem after council report

Arsenal have implemented "a series of measures" to tackle a mouse infestation at the Emirates Stadium after the problem was discovered by a council inspection last year.

On Wednesday, the Daily Mail published details of a council report that found "extensive evidence of mouse activity" across "all four levels of the stadium."

Inspectors discovered mouse droppings in the kitchens for the Diamond Club VIP section and several other areas.

The Mail said the council report noted that many stadium staff were unaware of the problem and that a lack of communication between the club and stadium management company about it was "disappointing."

In a statement, Arsenal said they had received the report and taken steps to deal with the problems it raised.

"The health, safety and security of our fans is always our first priority and we were therefore very disappointed to learn of these deficiencies in October 2016," the statement said.

"Upon receiving the report, we immediately implemented a series of measures to address the areas of concern.

"We are confident in the steps we have taken in the last year and continue to work with external experts to ensure that we are taking the right actions moving forward."
