Ronaldinho's Career Has Just Taken A Really Bizarre Twist
Posted Friday, December 15, 2017 by sportbible.com
From lifting the World Cup in 2002 to winning the Ballon d'Or in 2005, the great Brazilian is regarded as one of the best of all time.
In recent months, Ronaldinho has teased us about a possible return to the game, but just days after he scored from the halfway line during a charity match, Ronaldinho has shocked the world by announcing that he has put himself forward to run for Senate in 2018.
According to Brazilian publication O Globo, he will run in the state of Minas Gerais for the Patriota Party.
Never did I predict a job in politics for Ronaldinho, but the 37-year-old will run for office next year for the Jair Bolsonaro's Social Christian Party.
Earlier this week, Ronaldinho was pictured with presidential candidate Jair Bolsonaro, the man who must win the vote to become party leader so Ronaldinho can run for Senate.
If you want to see the former Barcelona forward in a suit, then the Brazilian elections will be in October next year. Stay tuned.
Ronaldinho closed the curtain on his football career in 2015 but back in August, he said he would be willing to return to the field on one condition.
His career came to a close when he reached a mutual agreement with Fluminense to terminate his contract two years ago, but he did say that he would join a club if they wouldn't force him to train.
Ed Maylon, Sports Editor for the Independent, confirmed Ronaldinho's demands via his Twitter account:
Maylon's Tweet was backed up by Brazilian football expert @BrazilStat:
"Have I officially retired football? If there is a team that would want me without the training, it is still possible to play."
