Lionel Messi doesn't want Arsenal star Mesut Ozil at Barcelona

The Germany star is out of contract at the end of the season and can leave the Emirates on a free transfer.

Ozil, 29, is refusing to sign a new deal in north London under Arsene Wenger.

The playmaker has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and Barca in recent weeks.

However, according to Spanish transfer outlet Diario Gol, Messi has told Barca they must not sign Ozil.

The Argentina talisman has doubts over Ozil's attitude and commitment.

Diario Gol claim Messi told Barca boss Ernesto Valverde and club chiefs his thoughts as soon as the Arsenal star was linked with a move to the Nou Camp.

Wenger has been vocal on Ozil's future in recent months, with the Frenchman rubbishing rumours the German had agreed a deal with Barca.

When asked whether Ozil was heading to the Nou Camp, Wenger said: "No.

"What kind of control can I have over that [speculation]? All these people have agents who can talk to anybody.

"That doesn't disturb people, that happens all through their career."

Ozil was absent for Arsenal's 1-0 win at Burnley yesterday but the attacking midfielder impressed in the north London derby victory against Tottenham a fortnight ago.
