On a night when the standard of performance didn't matter, only the result, Antoine Griezmann lit up the Estadio Wanda Metroplitano with a sensational scissor-kick against Roma that set Atletico Madrid on their way to a 2-0 victory over the Italians.
The first half had been fairly non-descript but the game sparked into life when both sides were handed a yellow card in the space of two minutes.
As the clock ticked down to the final 20 minutes, a nervousness descended but the cloud was soon lifted thanks to the Frenchman's stunning intervention.
The scorer than turned provider with five left to play, teeing up Kevin Gameiro to make the game safe.
