7M INSIGHT - Lazio vs Napoli
Posted Tuesday, September 19, 2017 by 7M Sport
There is a midweek round coming up in Serie A and Lazio will host top of the table Napoli on Wednesday. Both sides are entering an accelerated fixture with back-to-back league games and another round of European football ahead. Only two points separate them currently, so we should be in for an entertaining treat.
THE SEASON SO FAR
Napoli are somewhat surprisingly atop the league on goal difference before this round kick off. They fired 15 goals from just 4 league games as the best offensive squad so far. What is worth mentioning is that this defensively shaky team only conceded 2 goals with just 1 goal more than Inter Milan's.
The Partenope lost 1-2 to Ukrainian club Shakhtar in the Champions League last midweek but made a timely return to form against promoted side Benevento with a 6-0 thrashing.
On the other hand, Lazio claimed a hard fought win against a struggling Genoa side at the weekend. People still can't forget their previous 4-1 victory over the ambitious AC Milan. After losing former captain Lucas Biglia and promising Balde Keita, the Biancocelesti's performance is really amazing.
Taking all the pros and cons into consideration, we are still powerless to find the clear winners for the moment. Although this season is young, the result of this game may pave the future for the two sides this year.
KEY PLAYERS
This is also the clash between top caliber scorers - Ciro Immobile and Dries Mertens.
We can draw some many similarities from the strikers. They both found the striking instinct last season and extend that Midas Touch to this season; they both already pulled out hat-trick this season and becoming the top scorer for their outfit respectively; they both quick and agile in front of the goal and never afraid of seizing second chances.
The football fans will see some goals coming from this game, and it is likely from one or even two of those in-form finishers.
TIPS FOR THE GAME
The hosts had a resounding home record last season, but they tended to beat sides who were lower down in the rankings.
Napoli have scored at least twice in eight straight Serie A games, while they have bagged 15 goals in their last four away games. Having scored at least twice in 14 of their last 15 away in the league, we expect a few goals from the visitors in midweek, and they will not go down easily without an away win in order to keep their top place.
William Hill set the odds at 3-3-2 in 1x2 Odds, and the AH line of this game is the hosts (+0.50), so we are going for Napoli winning the game as well as in AH with a one-goal margin at least.
