Arsenal, Keita & Coutinho: Yet Liverpool fans complain on deadline day

Solid summer for Liverpool

As transfer deadline day closes, it's beginning to look like a pretty good summer for Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool.

And that's good news for Klopp who, in his third year at Anfield, is under pressure to finally land some significant silverware with Liverpool.

Liverpool moved early in the summer for much of their business.

Mohamed Salah, who has instantly bedded into the Premier League, was signed from Roma. Andrew Robertson has come in from Hull to fill in at left-back.

Earlier in the week, Liverpool confirmed the capture of Naby Keita from RB Liepzig. The Guinean, who scored on Thursday in a 2018 World Cup qualifier, will join the Reds after the season.

And the big story on deadline day was the unveiling of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal.

Of course, Liverpool's biggest coup of the summer was resisting Barcelona.

Barcelona made three bids to sign Philippe Coutinho, Coutinho also handed in a transfer request, but Liverpool have held onto the Brazilian.

How Coutinho returns to the Liverpool setup remains an open question. But, provided he shows the right attitude, Reds fans may forgive him quickly.

Moreover, Liverpool's front four of Coutinho, Salah, Mane and Firmino is arguably the best in the league.

Is it good enough to win the league?

It's also worth pointing out that Liverpool remain unbeaten at the start of the campaign too. And they're in the Champions League.

Yet, some Liverpool fans have taken to social media on deadline day to vent about how the club have performed this summer.

While Liverpool have made strides, they've also failed to sign a centre-half and/or goalie.

Why did Liverpool have no backup plan for Virgil Van Dijk? Surely there are other defenders in world football the Reds could have targeted, right?

So have the Reds dropped the ball failing to sort out their backline?
