Vitesse beat Roda in season opener

Vitesse picked up their first three points of the season when they defeated Roda JC 3-1 in Friday's Eredivisie clash at the Parkstad Limburg Stadium, courtesy of goals from Tim Matavz, Thomas Bruns and Guram Kashia.
Vitesse largely were on top in the first half and would make their dominance count in the 40th minute when Matavz struck home. After ending 1-0 at the interval, Roda enjoyed some good fortune when Remko Pasveer put the ball into the back of his own net in the 64th minute.
However, the away side regained the advantage five minutes later in the 69th minute when Bruns found the target. Vitas then ensured the encounter was made safe with 10 minutes to go as Kashia put the ball into the back of the net after good work from Alexander Buttner.
The result sees Vitesse go joint top of the Eredivisie alonside Utrecht and VVV on points and goal difference. This is still the very early days of the domestic top flight season in Holland, however.
