Neymar completed a world-record £198million transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain last week in a deal that has rocked the footballing world.

The Brazil international will wear the club's famous No10 shirt and is expected to make his debut when they come up against Guingamp next Sunday.

Neymar was linked with a move to the Ligue 1 giants a year ago but ultimately decided to give the La Liga side one more year of service.

However, reports in Spain are saying that the 25-year-old could have ended up at Real Madrid instead.

Diario Madridista claim his agent, Wagner Ribeiro, reached out to Los Blancos to see whether they would have any interest in signing Neymar.

But Real president Florentino Perez was not interested in snapping him up, despite having the financial muscle to pull off a deal.

It is said they were still angry about how Neymar used their interest during his time at Santos to end up signing for Barcelona instead.

Speaking in June, Perez even confirmed Neymar had undergone a medical with Real prior to joining Barcelona.

"Neymar passed a medical with Madrid," he told Spanish radio station Onda Cero.

"We tried for him to come, but we saw at one point that it was not possible and we withdrew (from the deal)."
