Manchester City are making a late move to beat Chelsea to the signing of Roma defender Antonio Rudiger.
The Mirror says City are determined not to lose out to Chelsea for the second time in the transfer market this summer – by landing Roma defender Antonio Rudiger.
Rudiger, who will start for Germany in the Confederations Cup final against Chile on Sunday, has been linked with a £35million move to Premier League champions Chelsea.
City have also been scouting Rudiger, 24, for the past few months and are ready to make their move this week with an offer to Roma – to ensure Chelsea do not beat them to a major target again.
Pep Guardiola wanted to sign Monaco's Tiemoue Bakayoko and City are said to have made enquiries through an intermediary about the midfielder moving to the Etihad Stadium.
Rudiger is not going on holiday until next weekend, with his future destination likely to be resolved this week, with Chelsea and City going head-to-head to sign him.
