According to multiple sources across England this afternoon, Chelsea have included clauses in the contracts of outgoing pair Bertrand Traore and Nathan Ake, allowing the club to re-purchase the duo at an increased price at some point in the future.
Blues Departures
Traore, a talented young striker from Burkina Faso, was sold to Lyon earlier this week for £8.8 million plus bonuses, having impressed during a loan spell with Ajax last season.
Dutch international defender Ake, meanwhile, is set to rejoin Bournemouth for a fee rumoured to be in the region of £20 million, with the 22-year-old having left a lasting impression on Cherries boss Eddie Howe during a loan spell at the Vitality Stadium last year.
Stamford Bridge returns?
While Chelsea feel as though there is no room for the talented young pair at the club at this moment in time, sources this evening suggest that the Londoners have not given up on the pair completely.
Buyback options on Traore and Ake have been included in the duo's Lyon and Bournemouth contracts respectively, with the presence of such a clause rumoured to have been a key factor in the surprisingly low fee for the former.
Though no details of the money involved in any potential returns have been revealed, the move looks a savvy one on the part of the board at Stamford Bridge.
