Xherdan Shaqiri Makes A Ridiculous Prediction About Stoke's Season
Posted Sunday, June 04, 2017 by thesportbible.com
Xherdan Shaqiri has obviously been watching re-runs of Leicester City's improbable Premier League triumph from last season.
Despite investing in players like Joe Allen last summer, The Potters had a pretty underwhelming 2016/17 campaign, with Mark Hughes only guiding the club to a 13th place finish with a poor return of just 44 points.
But even so, Shaqiri reckons all of the ingredients are already at the Bet365 Stadium to go on an historic run.
Speaking, via JOE, the Swiss international was quoted as saying: "I'm trying to get the club to the top as leader. But I also want to play for titles again and be in the Champions League.
"We were up and down as a team this season. Now we want to attack again in the summer. The board must strengthen - other clubs will also be doing it.
"Can Stoke do a Leicester? Yes, I think this is possible."
The claim might seem more than a tad outlandish, and that's because it is, but suggesting Leicester would be champions back in 2015 would've seemed equally bonkers.
For the record, we really don't think Stoke are about to do a Leicester, but with the right investment and a bit of luck, who knows where they could end up?
