Gerrard was discussing Chelsea’s chance of winning the Premier League when he mentioned that they should “avoid little slip-ups”.
It led to a moment of awkward silence in the BT Sport studio – given Gerrard slipped while playing the Blues in a huge title clash in 2014.
That led to Liverpool throwing away the chance of Premier League glory as they were nipped to the line by Manchester City.
Unfortunately for the Kop legend, his unfortunate choice of words didn’t go unnoticed.
Steven Gerrard said Chelsea need to avoid "slip-ups"
Cruel Twitter users rushed to put the boot in by posting pictures of the slip on the site.
One fan joked: “Little snigger as Steve Gerrard says Chelsea will win the league provided they avoid any little slip ups #CFCMCI”
Another said: “Has Gerrard really just said "its too early to say one hand on the trophy, theres still time for slip ups" Pot.Kettle.Black .”
A fellow poster tweeted: “Brilliant advice from Gerrard, who is of course experienced about slip ups.”
While an Everton fan put the boot in and wrote: “The irony of Gerrard talking about Chelsea needing to beware of 'slip ups' in the title run in.”
Another cruelly tweeted: “Gerrard saying Chelsea "need to avoid little slip ups" Lmfao he'd know.”
Chelsea are seven points clear at the top of the Premier League with just eight games to go.
