Sergi Roberto helped Barcelona pull off mission impossible
After trailing 4-0 from the first leg of their last-16 tie against Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona pulled off the near impossible by beating their French opponents 6-1 to progress to the quarter-finals with a 6-5 victory.
The incredible comeback at the Nou Camp had shades of 1999 when Manchester United scored two last-gasp goals to see off Bayern Munich and lift club football’s biggest prize.
Barcelona required three goals in the final few minutes and they did so when Roberto scored with virtually the last kick of the game.
Luis Enrique masterminded the greatest Champions League comeback in history
Reflecting on his contribution, Roberto said: “I don’t know how I scored, I’m caught up in it all, I’m just very happy.
"It was a very complicated game, after Cavani’s goal, we had to score three but we worked very hard.
"If this has proved anything, it is that Barcelona are made for these games.
"We achieved this thanks to our fans, now we will celebrate and then think about the league.”
Barcelona have now put themselves in the hat alongside the likes of Real Madrid and Bayern Munich for the last-eight draw which takes place a week on Friday.
