WEST Ham fans must be scratching their heads after a former flop scored a stunner against Real Madrid.
Simone Zaza arrived in East London on loan last summer with much excitement from Serie A giants Juventus.
Forking out a £5m fee up front for the loan, the Hammers were hoping the Italian would assist Andy Carroll in banging in the goals for the team.
But the player – best known for his bizarre run-up before missing a penalty against Germany in Euro 2016 – was a failure.
West Ham flop scored this belter for Valencia against Real Madrid
He failed to score in eight appearances and the loan ended in January, with the player moving to Valencia on loan instead.
So it must have come as a shock to see the 25-year-old score this worldy against none other than current European champions Real Madrid after just four minutes.
In front of a packed Mestalla crowd, the ball comes in from the right into the penalty box.
With his first touch, Zaza controls the ball and lets it bounce.
He then swivels and volleys it into the top corner giving the keeper no chance.
Orellana added a second in the ninth minute before Cristiano Ronaldo got one back just before half-time.
But Valencia managed to hold on to claim the three points.
