Saido Berahino was suspended for failing a drugs test prior to his move to Stoke, according to the Daily Mail.
The revelations claim that the England Under-21 striker had tested positive for a recreational drug in an out-of-competition test while still a West Brom player.
However, according to the report, Stoke were informed about the situation before he completed his £12million January transfer.
The report also goes on to claim that there were 'extenuating circumstances' around the 23-year-old's positive test.
Berahino played five games for West Brom between 13 August and 10 September but then wasn't seen again in first-team football until his Stoke debut on Wednesday.
He also feature for West Brom's Under-23 side between 20 September and December 12, when he played the full 90 minutes of a 1-0 loss to Wolves.
Under the terms of the World Anti-Doping Agency Berahino wouldn't have been punished for an out-of-competition positive test.
But FA rulings ensure that players get punish, in order to not damage the game's image, although normally the player isn't named.
Current West Brom midfielder Jake Livermore escaped a ban after testing positive for cocaine at Hull as he was trying to cope with the death of his new-born son.
Neither Stoke, the FA or Berahino commented on these latest allegations, but the striker will be available to face his old side on Saturday.
We're sure he'll get a tasty reception at The Hawthorns.
