Gillingham vs Shrewsbury Town - Chris Herd doubtful for Shrewsbury clash

Gillingham have a doubt over defender Chris Herd for the visit of Shrewsbury because of a head injury.

The Australian was taken off during half-time of the 2-2 draw at Sheffield United after being involved in a collision.

Gills head coach Ady Pennock is set to take charge of a home match for the first time after the midweek fixture against AFC Wimbledon was postponed due to a frozen pitch, and could hand a debut to Czech goalkeeper Tomas Holy who has signed after a trial at the Kent club.

Midfielder Lee Martin (ankle) and defender Bradley Garmston (hamstring) are set to step up their rehabilitations with a behind-closed-doors match next week, while Aaron Morris (knee) also continues his recovery.

Stephen Humphrys could make his Shrewsbury debut after the young striker joined on loan from Fulham for the rest of the season.

Seven-goal top-scorer Louis Dodds is fighting to be fit after missing last week's 1-0 win over Oldham with a calf injury.

The striker has returned to training while Northern Ireland defender Ryan McGivern is fit again after missing more than a month with the shoulder injury.

Alex Rodman and Ethan Jones are being monitored after suffering hamstring and knee injuries respectively while AJ Leitch-Smith remains out.
