Brentford vs Derby County - Barbet banned for Brentford

Posted Friday, February 19, 2016 by PA

Brentford will be without Yoann Barbet when they host Derby.

Defender Barbet was sent off after just five minutes of last weekend's 4-0 defeat by Sheffield Wednesday and serves a one-match ban.

Midfielder Alan McCormack is close to fitness after a calf injury while the Bees have also been boosted by the return to training of striker Scott Hogan, who has been out since August 2014 after two cruciate injuries.

Defender Andreas Bjelland remains sidelined as he recovers from his cruciate injury.

Darren Wassall says "places are up for grabs" in his Derby team after his first game in charge ended in a home defeat to MK Dons.

Wassall, stepping up from academy director for the remainder of the season following Paul Clement's sacking, made two changes last weekend, recalling Tom Ince and Bradley Johnson at the expense of Chris Baird and Andreas Weimann, but it resulted in an eighth league match without a win for the Rams.

Baird has since returned to his former club Fulham on loan but Weimann will be joined by the likes of Stephen Warnock, Jacob Butterfield, Jamie Hanson, Darren Bent and Nick Blackman in vying for recalls against the Bees.

George Thorne has missed two games with a calf injury and the midfielder is set to sit out another couple of games with the problem. It is hoped he will be back in contention for the trip to Wolves on February 27.
