A new striker has been linked to Tottenham Hotspur as a move for Juventus outcast Alvaro Morata could be on the cards according to the latest Spurs transfer news (as per MARCA).
Spanish hitman Morata, 23, was one of the most talked about supersubs in Europe when he represented Real Madrid in 2013-14 as he returned an astonishing eight goals from just 560 minutes of La Liga action and 20 appearances from the bench.
That works out at an incredible goal return of one scored for every 70 minutes he was on the field, however, he has largely been unable to replicate that kind of goal-scoring form at current employer Juventus.
That is perhaps, wholly, because of the fine form Paulo Dybala has been exhibiting, while Mario Mandzukic also appears to be above Morata in the Old Lady striking pecking order.
Morata would only have to compete with Harry Kane for a starting role at White Hart Lane and may be content to start most games from the bench, as he would still arguably receive more game time and room for development under Mauricio Pochettino than he does at Juventus.
Spurs would also be signing a player who grafted hard and proved himself as a terrific bench option at Real Madrid.
Morata has a current transfermarkt.co.uk valuation of £16.5m ($33.5m AUS).
