Peterhead 4 - 1 Stenhousemuir: Peterhead too strong for Stenhousemuir

Posted Sunday, January 03, 2016 by PA

Peterhead cut the gap on second-placed Ayr to four points in Ladbrokes Scottish League One after a thumping 4-1 victory over Stenhousemuir.

The Blue Toon were in front after just five minutes thanks to James Redman's glancing header but, after floodlight failure had temporarily suspended the game, the visitors levelled just after the half hour through Alan Cook's stunning blast into the top corner.

James Stevenson re-established Peterhead's lead in the 53rd minute with a wonderful strike while Rory McAllister thrashed home after 77 minutes to double the advantage.

Kevin Dzierzawski drilled the ball past Matthew Gould to add gloss to the scoreline with eight minutes left as Jim McInally's men won for the third game in a row and are now unbeaten in eight.
