Dunfermline 2 - 1 Cowdenbeath: Pars punish Blue Brazil

Posted Sunday, January 03, 2016 by PA

Michael Moffat scored twice as Dunfermline extended their winning run to five games with a 2-1 home win over Cowdenbeath.

Cowdenbeath had started brighter of the two sides but were behind on 17 minutes when Moffat finished off a good team move.

The visitors had more misery when player-manager Colin Nish was sent to the stands by referee Barry Cook.

But Cowdenbeath soon hit back as Greig Spence slotted home after rounding Dunfermline goalkeeper Sean Murdoch shortly before the break.

Both goalkeepers were kept busy after the restart, but Moffat came up trumps by winning and then scoring a penalty after the hour mark, though Dunfermline's efforts to extend that lead were thwarted by Cowdenbeath stopper Jamie Sneddon.
