FRANK LAMPARD has been told to forget about staying at Manchester City for the rest of the season.
The midfielder has been impressive for Manuel Pellegrini's after joining on loan from the reigning Premier League champions' sister club New York.
Pellegrini has made no secret of wanting to keep hold of the former England star well into 2015.
But New York sporting director Claudio Reyna insists there is no chance and Lampard will definitely move to America for pre-season training ahead of the next MLS season which begins in March.
STILL AT THE TOP: Frank Lampard has impressed for Man City since joining on loan from New York City
He said:" It's fantastic to see him playing at the level he has been doing for City in the Premier League so the situation couldn't have worked out better.
"He is really excited to be here. The plan remains for him to be in pre-season with us.
"He was disappointed not to be in New York this week for the kit launch but he is excited to be an ambassador for this club and part of the building process.
"We don't have a drop dead date for him to return but all plans are pointing towards him being here for pre-season."
