Marcos Rojo suffered a horrific shoulder injury in Manchester United's derby clash at the Etihad.
CONCERN: United and City players show their concern for Rojo
The Argentina centre-half, 24, had to be stretchered off 10 minutes into the second half after being given oxygen on the pitch.
The initial thoughts suggested Rojo had dislocated his shoulder after lunging into a challenge.
Losing Rojo adds to Louis van Gaal's defensive woes.
Chris Smalling is set to serve a suspension while Phil Jones and Jonny Evans are both injured.
CONCERN: Rojo is stretchered off
Rojo was involved in a feud with Sergio Aguero before the game.
Aguero swerved a face-to-face with his Argie team-mate Marcos Rojo in another twist to their row.
The City striker fell out with his United rival at the World Cup in the summer amid angry scenes in their country's dressing room.
Rojo invited his Argentine pop star pal El Polaco into the inner sanctum - much to astonished Aguero's fury.
MAN DOWN: Rojo was in agony as he was carried off
El Polaco is the former partner of Aguero's current girlfriend, fellow pop artist Karina Tejeda - and Aguero clearly was not happy and made his feelings known.
But on Friday, when the two derby opponents were due to meet at an inner city community football event, Aguero did not show up.
Red-faced City officials apologised and revealed that Aguero was at Manchester Airport picking up members of his family.
Rojo could not help but chuckle at the no-show and joked that his national team-mate was running scared.
