Milner: Pressure on Chelsea could 'play into Man City's hands' in title race

James Milner has told talkSPORT the pressure on unbeaten Chelsea could play into Manchester City's hands as both sides eye the Premier League title.

Jose Mourinho's side currently sit four points clear at the top flight summit following eight wins from their opening ten games of the season.

The Blues are already being tipped as favourites for the league crown, with defending champions City six points behind them in third place following their 1-0 Manchester derby victory over Man United.

However, Milner believes the expectation on Chelsea's high-flying stars could work in City's favour during the campaign.

The midfielder told Call Collymore: "It could play into our hands."

"You're never going to go throughout the whole season playing well, you have ups and downs, but it's all about how you get through that."

"That's one of the pleasing things about the win today, we weren't at our best but we got tight and kept a clean sheet and eventually won the game through a moment of brilliance from Sergio."

"When you're not playing well that's what all big teams have to do, they get the results regardless."

"We just want to keep doing our job and keep churning out the results to stay as close as we can to Chelsea."

"They've started very well but I'm sure they'll have a dip in form during the season as well, so we have to make sure we’re there ready to take advantage of that if it happens."

"I think this win today can kick start our form, get us back on track and get our performances to the level we know we’re capable of."
