Reus refuses to commit long-term future to Dortmund

The forward says the only thing he is currently focusing on is his club's upcoming fixtures, but he did not address speculation linking him with Bayern Munich and Manchester City

Marco Reus has shrugged off speculation linking him with a move away from Borussia Dortmund - yet declined the opportunity to commit himself to the club.

The Germany international's future has been the subject of much debate in recent months, with Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge having publicly claimed that the attacker's buy-out clause is set to drop to €25 million next summer.

As revealed by Goal on Thursday, Manchester City are also ready to step up their longstanding interest in Reus, with Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc having admitted earlier this week that they have postponed talks over a new contract to focus on addressing their poor run of form in the Bundesliga.

Reus has now attempted to play down the mounting speculation surrounding his next move but refused to confirm if he will remain at Signal Iduna Park beyond the expiration of his current deal, which runs until 2017.

"There has been a lot of public speculation regarding my future lately," the 25-year-old wrote on his Facebook page.

"I want to take this opportunity to let you know that other people are worrying far more about my future than I do.

"The only thing I can say with certainty is that we're on our way to Munich to win points for BVB - hopefully it'll be three points we take back to Dortmund.

"After that we have big games against Galatasaray, Borussia Monchengladbach, Paderborn and Arsenal.

"These games and the two upcoming internationals are all I'm focused on at the moment."

Reus, who has only just returned to action from the ankle ligament damage that ruled him out of Germany's World Cup campaign, joined Dortmund from Gladbach for €17.1m in 2012.

However, he has been repeatedly linked with a move to Bayern, who have admitted that they have already internally discussed reuniting Reus with former BVB team-mates Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski, both of whom have swapped Signal Iduna Park for the Allianz Arena over the past 18 months.

City, meanwhile, have been tracking Reus since his days at Gladbach and have made him one of their primary transfer targets, along with Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.
