Crewe Alexandra vs Coventry preview - Haber missing for Crewe

Posted Friday, October 10, 2014 by PA

Marcus Haber will be away with Canada when Crewe meet Coventry in Sky Bet League One.

Steve Davis this week bemoaned the striker's decision to link up with his country rather than try and help the Alex claw themselves off the foot of the table.

Vadaine Oliver is expected to come in for Haber, although Febian Brandy offers another attacking option now that the Rotherham loanee appears to be over his calf problem.

Youngster James Jones is away with Scotland Under-19s, while Harry Davis (knee) and Ryan Colclough (hernia) are still some way off a return to competitive action.

Coventry captain Reda Johnson is a fitness doubt for the trip after sustaining a groin injury.

Johnson missed three matches through suspension after being sent off against Scunthorpe last month and opted out of international duty with Benin to stay with the Sky Blues, but was then forced to sit out Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy win over Exeter anyway.

Striker Simeon Jackson scored in that game and is also available this weekend after being cleared to miss a Canada training camp in Mexico, but Andy Webster went off at half-time with a calf problem.

Seb Hines could recover in time from a knee injury but striker Frank Nouble is nursing a hip problem and midfielder Danny Swanson is definitely out.
