SIR ALEX FERGUSON is bracing himself for a mixed reception from Manchester United fans when he returns to Old Trafford this weekend.
WARY: Sir Alex Ferguson is aware that some United fans hold him responsible for the clubs current problems
Fergie will step foot on the Old Trafford pitch on Sunday for the first time since retiring as United boss in 2013.
The Scot will walk on the hallowed turf before United's clash with Everton to introduce new club ambassador Ji-Sung Park.
But despite his glorious success at United, Fergie knows some supporters still blame him for his role in David Moyes becoming his successor.
Fergie hand-picked close friend Moyes to replace him at the helm, but the decision proved a disaster.
Moyes was handed a six-year-deal but lasted just 10 months before being sacked after the job proved too big for him.
Despite getting a ringing endorsement from Fergie, Moyes saw his managerial career crumble in less than a single season at United's helm.
The former champions suffered a shocking fall from grace and failed to qualify for Europe before the Scot was axed.
Louis Van Gaal was drafted in to replace him but has struggled to repair the damage caused by Moyes's ill-fated reign.
Fergie has remained a regular fixture in the directors box since retiring, but this will be the first time he has stepped foot on the pitch.
And while most fans still treat him as a revered figure for obvious reasons, there are some who blame him for his part in the team's sudden demise.
