DAVID MOYES is the clear favourite to replace Alan Pardew as Newcastle boss.
IN AND OUT: David Moyes (L) could replace Alan Pardew (R)
Under-fire Pardew admitted his job is on the line after watching his struggling side crash to another defeat.
The Geordies remain rooted in the relegation zone after falling to a 1-0 loss to Stoke on a night where the Toon Army urged owner Mike Ashley to wield the axe.
Pardew said: "We'll have some serious conversations because he doesn't want to lose and neither to do I.
"I'll probably speak tomorrow or the next day because this team needs to win games. I have to turn it around."
Moyes wants to return to management after being sacked by Manchester United in April.
It's understood that the Scot would like to manage the Toon - despite their nightmare start to the season.
He's as short as 5/4 to succeed Pardew with BetVictor. Hull boss Steve Bruce is 11/2 while Tony Pulis is an outsider at 7/1.
Newcastle are yet to win in the league this season.
They've taken three points from their opening six games - their worst start to a season since 2003.
The Toon have won only five of their 25 league games in 2014.
