Cristiano Ronaldo would have to take a pay cut to rejoin Manchester United, according to Guardian journalist Jamie Jackson.
The Real Madrid star has been linked with a move back to the Red Devils next summer, after becoming disillusioned by the La Liga's giants recent sales of Angel di Maria and Xabi Alonso.
But, according to Jackson, the Portuguese may to take a financial hit to link up with his former side.
"Ronaldo earns around £314,000-a-week tax free at Real Madrid, which equates to the best part of £700k here, with our 45 percent tax," he said. "Man United could go to around £380,000-a-week, before tax. They could also bump it up with some very lucrative image rights"
"Ronaldo would have to take, in inverted commas, a pay cut though to re-join Man United."
