Inter Milan vs Cagliari preview - Mazzarri happy with Inter form

Confidence is soaring in the Inter Milan camp as they head into Sunday's clash against bottom side Cagliari on the back of Wednesday's 2-0 win against Atalanta.

The Nerazzurri had failed to beat the Bergamo outfit since 2010, but triumphed courtesy of goals from Pablo Daniel Osvaldo and Hernanes.

"It was an important win," Inter coach Walter Mazzarri said. "This group is growing and everyone is rowing in the same direction.

"I'm very satisfied with how my team is playing."

Inter are fourth in the Serie A standings with eight points from four matches.

The Nerazzurri have shown few signs of weakness, conceding just once while scoring 10 times.

Mazzarri is confident his team can extend its five-match unbeaten run in all competitions this weekend but has warned his players to keep up their focus.

"I would have preferred if Cagliari had gone into this game with a win," he said. "They will give their all against us and I think the result will depend a lot on how we play.

"If we show the same fighting spirit that we displayed against Atalanta, we can do well."

Cagliari have yet to come out of first gear.

Wednesday's 2-1 home defeat to Torino was their third defeat in four games and left Cagliari still searching for their first win.

"It's obvious that I expected at this stage to have a few more points in the standings," Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini said. "We are not happy to just have one point to our name.

"We are working hard to invert this negative trend and we are on the right path.

"Against Inter we face a very strong team but we cannot play with fear.

"We will got to Milan ready to play our game."

Cagliari coach Zdenek Zeman will have all his players available with the exception of injured midfielder Sebastian Eriksson.b

Inter striker Mauro Icardi, who has struck three league goals so far, is doubtful for the encounter at the San Siro with a muscle problem.

Freddy Guarin is expected to partner Osvaldo in Inter's attack.
