Wolfsburg vs Werder Bremen preview - Hunt set for emotional reunion

Aaron Hunt is preparing to face his former club for the first time since making the move from Werder Bremen to Wolfsburg this summer.

Hunt spent 13 years on Bremen's books, playing over 200 games for the north German side.

On Saturday, he will line up against them for the very first time in his career, admitting it will be a "very odd" feeling.

"I really can't wait for it," he said on werder.de. "Although I've not been away for long, it's going to be something special to see my old colleagues again, but I have mixed feelings.

"It's going to be very odd to face a team I spent practically all of my career with. It's going to be very unusual for me to run out against Werder, but I think I'm only really going to know how I feel when both teams are out on the field.

"But this is the way things go in football. I'm now a Wolfsburg player and I would like to do the best I can for this club."

Hunt is not a guaranteed starter on Saturday having appeared only as a substitute in the Wolves' last three games.

"I needed a bit of time to find my feet here," he said. "When you've been with one club for so long, then I think it's only normal - all the procedures are different and the coach has his own ideas.

"The main difference for me is the completely new surroundings, but I've settled in well now and I'm also happy."

He cannot be entirely happy with Wolfsburg's start to the season, though, with just five points from their first five games leaving them just two points above the bottom three, and their hosts.

"I think they are a lot stronger than the five points they have, though," said Bremen coach Robin Dutt.

"It's hard to work them out really. They could have scored three or four against Hertha Berlin, yet they lost 1-0.

"It's pretty much the same story with us, even though they have won a game whereas we haven't, but I'm sure they are not happy with their results so far, given their expectations."
