Montpellier vs Guingamp preview - Courbis expects prompt recovery

Montpellier and Guingamp will both be determined to get disappointing midweek defeats out of their system when they meet at the Stade de la Mosson on Saturday night.
Rolland Courbis' men went down 1-0 at home to Monaco following a stoppage-time goal by Valere Germain, while Guingamp were unable to recover against Metz after going behind to a first-half effort from defender Gaetan Bussman.
However, the Montpellier boss intends to reflect on the positives as his team aim to recover and close back in on the top four, whom they still only trail by three points heading into week eight of the Ligue 1 campaign.
"We are not going to be melodramatic, even though the Monaco result hurts more than a run-of-the-mill defeat," he said.
"We can console ourselves by saying that Monaco had a lot of dangerous situations that could have led to a goal, but we would certainly have fewer regrets had we not conceded this goal with 15 seconds remaining in the match."
Courbis accepts Montpellier will have to improve if they are to get something against Guingamp.
"At times we played how we should play, but overall it was an average performance and we needed to perform better," he said.
Montpellier must do without Peruvian striker Lucas Barrios, who has a thigh injury.
Guingamp coach Jocelyn Gourvennec believes his team are playing well enough, if without being able to generate the end product in front of goal.
"We turned in almost 30 crosses, so it was a cruel defeat (against Metz), but if we keep playing as we did, then we will win games," he said.
