Barcelona vs Granada CF preview - Barca ready for tough Granada clash

Luis Enrique admits Barcelona need to be more imaginative to break teams down this season ahead of his side's La Liga clash against Granada on Saturday.

The Catalans are currently second in the table on goal difference after dropping their first points of the campaign in a goalless draw at Malaga on Wednesday.

Despite dominating the game, Enrique's side were unable to find the decisive goal at La Rosaleda and Barca are likely to encounter a similar rearguard action at the Nou Camp this weekend.

Granada are eighth in the league and owe their position to a strong defence that has conceded only three goals in their first five games.

"I expect them to be the same Granada we've seen in the last few league games - they'll be strong in defence, they have very high quality defenders and they play well as a team," Enrique told Barca TV.

"If another team causes us problems and we are not able to get around those, of course we need to find solutions.

"It's not as simple as just pressing a button - every team is different and every coach has a different understanding of the game.

"We're looking at solutions and let's see if we can transfer those ideas into results on the pitch.

"Apart from Bilbao, every team we have played have tried to defend against us - some have done that better than others."

One player renowned for his incision and defence-splitting passes is Xavi but the veteran midfielder has found himself out of favour under Enrique.

The 34-year-old is yet to start a league match under the new Barca boss this season and was an unused substitute against Malaga.

"I'm sure I could have used him more this season and he would have played well because he is an exceptional player but I make these decisions for the best of the team," Enrique said.

"I need Xavi, I have him in my squad and I see him in training every day but there's only 11 players in the team.

"If every time someone doesn't play you're going to ask me to justify the decision, I will always say the same thing - I need all my players."

Granada enjoyed a promising start to the season with two wins and two draws from their opening four games but were stopped in their tracks after a 1-0 defeat at home to struggling Levante on Wednesday.

Joaquin Caparros' side will be looking to bounce back as soon as possible and can take heart from their last meeting against Barcelona when they won 1-0 at home in April.

"The team is annoyed by Wednesday's defeat and we want to remove the thorn of the Levante result," Caparros told the club's official website.

"We don't want to lose two games in a row."
