Louis van Gaal has confirmed Netherlands international Daley Blind is set to undergo a medical ahead of a reported £14.2million switch to Manchester United.
The Ajax star has been constantly linked with a move to Old Trafford since his national coach was appointed in the hotseat ahead of the World Cup.
Blind impressed in Brazil and was a key member of the Holland side that finished in third place, and found the net in the 3-0 play-off victory over hosts Brazil.
Van Gaal is keen to securing a deal for the versatile 24-year-old, who can play in defence as well as in midfield, with reports from Amsterdam suggesting he will complete his move ahead on Monday's transfer deadline.
And, though the Red Devils boss remained coy over the transfer, he did admit Blind will soon complete a medical with the club.
"I know him very well, he was my player at the World Cup and his father was my assistant," said Van Gaal following his side's disappointing 0-0 draw at Burnley on Saturday.
"But [the move] always depends on the medical, so we will have to wait and see."
