Cardiff vs Wigan preview - Duo to make Bluebirds bow

Cardiff look set to hand debuts to new signings Sean Morrison and Anthony Pilkington when they host Wigan.

Centre-back Morrison, who arrived from Reading last week, could step in for Matthew Connolly or Mark Hudson at the heart of the City defence while former Norwich winger Pilkington will be included in the squad and could even make the starting line-up.

Fellow winger Craig Noone remains sidelined along with centre-back Ben Turner but boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has plenty of options if he chooses to freshen up his starting XI.

Juan Cala, Nicky Maynard, Declan John, Javi Guerra and Magnus Eikrem are all options for the Norwegian who will hope to include Federico Macheda and Kagisho Dikgacoi in a matchday squad for the first time.

Winless Wigan hope to have skipper Emmerson Boyce back for the trip to the Welsh capital.

The defender missed Saturday's last-gasp defeat to Charlton because of a troublesome knee injury with manager Uwe Rosler mindful of his team having two games in four days.

Ben Watson (broken leg) scored the winner when these two met in the FA Cup last season but he, along with fellow midfielders Chris McCann (knee) and James McClean (ankle), is still sidelined.

Both Andrew Taylor and Don Cowie started on Saturday and could play against their former employers, although Rosler is an advocate of squad rotation so James Tavernier and Shaun Maloney may be amongst those recalled.
