DAVID MOYES has emerged as a surprise early frontrunner to land the vacant job at Crystal Palace.
KING OF THE PALACE: Could ex-Man Utd boss Moyes be set to take over at Crystal Palace?
Tony Pulis quit as Selhurst Park chief earlier this evening after falling out with chairman Steve Parish.
The former Stoke boss is thought to have grown frustrated with the club's dealings in the transfer market, and matters came to a head in crunch talks tonight.
Amongst the early favourites to replace Pulis is Moyes, who has been out of work since being axed by Manchester United in April following a disastrous ninth-month spell in charge at Old Trafford.
Bookmakers William Hill have the former Everton boss as 6/1 third favourite, behind Malky Mackay and Neil Lennon.
Mackay, who was sacked by Cardiff last year, worked with Palace's head of recruitment Iain Moody at the Bluebirds, and would welcome a return to top flight management.
Lennon, meanwhile, left Celtic earlier this summer claiming he wanted a fresh challenge.
His spell is charge of the Bhoys is his only management role to date.
Other candidates mooted for the vacancy at Selhurst Park include Tim Sherwood, Neil Warnock and Chris Hughton.
Meanwhile, odds on Palace being relegated this summer have plummeted in the wake of Pulis' departure.
The Eagles have fallen from 11/4 to 2/1 second favourites for the drop.
