Belgium coach Marc Wilmots has revealed Thibaut Courtois will return to Chelsea next season.
The 45-year-old was caught by cameras from Belgium TV station RTBF talking to Gerard Houllier before Belgium’s 1-0 victory over Russia on Sunday afternoon.
Goal exclusively revealed earlier this month that Jose Mourinho is preparing to make Courtois his first-choice goalkeeper at Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea open to offers for Petr Cech.
When asked about Courtois’ future by Houllier, Wilmots replied: "He's going back to Chelsea, yes."
Houllier then asked whether Chelsea will be selling Cech, to which Wilmots responded with: "It's possible, yes."
Courtois was signed by Chelsea from Genk in 2011 but has yet to feature in the Premier League having been loaned out to Atletico Madrid for the past three seasons.
The 22-year-old goalkeeper, who helped guide Atletico to the Spanish league title and a Champions League final last season, kept his 100th career clean sheet in the 1-0 win over Russia.
