"I am very glad I have got the chance to have a farewell match, when the national coach told me I was very happy. Of course, this is an emotional situation, I had wonderful years with the German national team and feel very grateful for being allowed to play 120 matches for Germany: the camadarie within the team, the friendly atmosphere within the German Football Association, the great World Cup in 2006 and the cherry on top in 2014 and then I was even chosen to be captain of the team. When you're a little boy, that's what you are dreaming of."
