Mike Phelan reacted as Manchester United grabbed a 1-0 victory over Hull City in the English Premier League on Saturday (27th August).

"It's a football match and you have to play to the death. We perhaps lacked that little bit of concentration and maybe fatigue came into it, but credit to my players, they performed heroically I thought. It was never going to be easy, it was a difficult one, and I thought it wasn't going to be a game where we would create many chances. But it's disappointing for them and I feel for them because effort is something you demand and ask for and there was no shortage of that today."
