Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger spoke on Friday (26th August) about their Champions League draw, the importance of winning their first league match of the season against Watford on Saturday and on possible signings
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager:
(on their Champions League draw)
"Because we're in pot number two, we basically got what we expected. Maybe Paris Saint-German is the favourites, with their big ambition, but we want to qualify of course and if possible finish first in the group. We start in Paris, so that will be a very interesting test. Ludogorets at the moment we don't know a lot about them and FC Basel, if you look at their record against English teams, you become cautious because they've done extremely well against Chelsea and Manchester United. I believe we have to be on our toes and prepare very well."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager:
(on the need to win their first league match of the season and the international break)
"We need a first win after our game at Leicester City and of course the international break comes too soon because I've got players who go away with their national teams, who are not ready yet to start for us in the Premiership (Premier League) because we had to rest them because they played international games."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Arsene Wenger, Arsenal manager:
(on Germany defender Shkodran Mustafi and Spanish striker Lucas Perez joining the club):
"We are working on the deals. We are not close enough to announce to you today that they will sign for us. Will we sign anybody before the end of the transfer window? I'm 99 per cent confident."
