Sunderland manager David Moyes on Friday (26th August) looked forward to their English Premier League game at Southampton
SOUNDBITE: (English) David Moyes, Sunderland manager:
(about transfers)
"I think when you're a manager you're always wanting to improve your team. I think we have got room for improvement. I think we can try and do that and we'll attempt to get good players here to give the supporters here something to shout about."
SOUNDBITE: (English) David Moyes, Sunderland manager:
(about Adnan Januzaj)
"Well, I thought he showed glimpses in his first game against Middlesbrough as well. I thought he took people on. You've got to remember he's not played much senior football, and again he's another one we've had to thrust in without giving them any chance to get to know the players or really have any training time. But, I always thought he could score goals and make goals. He's someone who can make a difference in the team and we need to try and make him the one who makes the difference. We need him and we will need him through the season and he got us a win in midweek (against Shrewsbury Town in the League Cup).
SOUNDBITE: (English) David Moyes, Sunderland manager:
(about Southampton)
"I think Southampton are a club which have built progressively and they've built progressively through their academy mainly and what they've had to do on their journey, they've had to sell some of their players on to finance the next stage of their development. I think they're a club which is certainly on the climb because of the way they've done their business, they've done it very well. I think they're improving all the time, Southampton. So, you have to give them credit for the way they've gone about their work in the last seven or eight years."
