Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka spoke on Friday (26th August) ahead of his side's English Premier League match at West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Aitor Karanka, Middlesbrough manager:
(asked how much he respects West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis)
"A lot. Because if you look at his numbers, since the first day that I met him, he showed me that he's a gentleman and his job is there. He never got relegated. I don't know how many games in the Premier League, so for that reason, all my respect is for him. And I wish him all the best after the game on Saturday... Sunday."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Aitor Karanka, Middlesbrough manager:
(on Sunday's match at West Bromwich Albion)
"Again, it's another typical Premier League game, they are in the same position as us, they lost (in the League Cup to Northampton Town), they played extra-time and I know that Tony (Pulis) isn't leaving his best moment there. It's a shame because I have a good relationship with him and for me he's an amazing manager, experienced who I've learned a lot (from) and again. They're a strong team, strong at set pieces, so it's going to be a tough game, but again we have to think about ourselves and try to play our football."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Aitor Karanka, Middlesbrough manager:
(on the transfer window)
"Yes, we are working, but since last season finished, the club has been working really well behind the scenes, so it gives me the opportunity to focus on the games and the club knows the (identity of) the players, the positions we need to strengthen and for that reason, I'm really calm. We have a few days (before the window closes), so I'm really pleased with the squad, with the players who can come here and especially with the position that we're in the table."
