On Wednesday (24th August) Chris Coleman looked ahead to Wales' FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifier against Moldova and urged Wales fans to put the team's run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals behind them.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Chris Coleman, Wales manager:
(On Wales' run to the semi-finals at Euro 2016 and his squad selection for the upcoming World Cup 2018 qualification campaign):
The Euros... it was great. It was abolutely fantastic. It's gone, it's behind us. It's finished. And as much as I'm the same as anybody else, I'm very proud of Wales and what was achieved, but that's behind us now. It's what's next and this next game. First game of the campaign. Huge. So it wasn't a case of me just going, 'Alright. That's the squad that finished the campaign,' you know. It's very much who's available, who's ready and who'd be there, what type of team are we looking at, to field. In this next challenge against Moldova.
"I think everybody is under the impression that everybody wants to work in the Premier League. That's where... apparently, if you're not working in the Premier League, you know, there's not much interest, you're not much kop.
"That's not to say I don't want to work in the Premier League - it's a great league, it's recognised as the best in the world, but what I've got here is something very special and close to my heart. There was an approach, the FAW (Football Association of Wales) turned it down: that's the end of it. So, I'm fully focused on what I need to do again for my country. I'll be just as focused this time as I was the last time."
