Reaction from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp after Burnley beat Liverpool 2-0 at Turf Moor in the English Premier League on Saturday (20th August), despite only having 19 per cent possession and mustering just three efforts on goal.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager:
"The decision making... we passed the ball, we lost the ball at the wrong moments, in open moments, where the counter-attack, the counter-pressing, I'm not sure. Around the fist goal, counter-attack and with the second goal, 2-0 up, but at half time, I had the feeling there's a lot in this game still for us [...] on two little counter-attacks from Burnley, that's it, so now we lost in a game in which we had, in both halves, I think 80 per cent possession, so. But it's different ways to play football, that's absolutely ok. Especially the two strikers of Burnley, (Sam) Vokes and (Andre) Gray did really well, physical, strong guys and the rest defended with big hearts and so I respect this, but of course usually in a game like this, we win, if we don't make the mistakes at the wrong moment. But we did, and now we have to accept the result and we have to carry on."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager:
"What can I say? At the last moment, we were not there where we should have been. That's a little bit, the problem. In the box, around the box, I saw crosses, really good crosses, where nobody was in the box. I saw shots when the whole box was full. Our timing and decision-making was not really good, so we might be forced by the result, and of course by the passion of the opponents, but it's how it is."
