Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew talks on Friday (19th August) and discusses his hopes for the arrival of imminent new signing Christian Benteke - and this weekend's English Premier League away match at Tottenham Hotspur.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Pardew, Crystal Palace manager:
(on injury news ahead of the game)
"We have just got two or three back really. When I say back - not particularly injury but more 'up to speed'. Yohan Cabaye, Mutchey (Jordan Mutch), (James) McArthur...(James) Tomkins. All those four probably will travel tomorrow (Saturday)."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Pardew, Crystal Palace manager:
(on Christian Benteke transfer):
"So, it is still subject to personal and medical terms, of course, but in terms of the agreement with Liverpool - finally, we seem to have got there."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Pardew, Crystal Palace manager:"I don't want to talk too much but I think it is important, when you have lost iconic players, to try and replace them with iconic players. We have lost two this week - Mile Jedinak and 'Yala' (Yannick) Bolasie. Both have been massive figures in this club and you need to replace them with big figures."SOUNDBITE: (English) Alan Pardew, Crystal Palace manager:
(on Tottenham Hotspur):
"No, I don't think so because they have a manager who is proven at the level and they have a chairman that does shrewd business and also an energy in their squad. They haven't had to make some big wholesale changes in that group because they are so young. Yet I can understand that. They will be better for the experience of last year. Their first home game is not an ideal draw for us. So, we are going to have be very very good to get something there. I think they have only lost three or four times (at home) - of which we were one, in the Cup. So, at least we can take that confidence into the game."
