South Korea's Mirim Lee shot 62 to set the early pace in the first round of the Women's British Open at Woburn on Thursday (28th July).

The Women's British Open teed off on Thursday at Woburn Golf Club in Surrey.

Lydia Ko, the World No,1 since last October hit only two birdies on a disappointing day where she carded for a two-over-par 72.

England's top ranked player Charley Hull will be pleased with her first round 3-under 69 to sit tied for 11th.

She'll expect to shoot low through the weekend, having been a member at Woburn since the age of 10.

World No.8 Stacy Lewis hit one of the shots of the day on 17.

She made birdie there and went into the clubhouse tied for 4th, five shots off the leader.

One competitor who made scoring look easy saw South Korea's Mirim Lee.

Lee, without a win in 2016, looked in brilliant touch as she racked up ten birdies and no bogeys in her round and was three shots ahead of Thailand's Ariya Jutanugarn who earlier had set the clubhouse lead with a seven under-par round of 65.

Lee went down the 18th knowing that a birdie would equal the lowest round in the history of major golf, men or women.

Lee would have to settle for a par and yet goes into round two with a healthy three shot lead.
