-
Home favourite Lin Wen-Tang is hoping for a good showing at the Yeangder TPC which starts in Taipei on Thursday to make the cut for the Rio Olympics, while South Africa's Shaun Norris is looking forward to defending his first career title.
SOUNDBITE: (English) Lin Wen-Tang, Chinese Taipei (on being ranked 61st in the Olympic rankings and needing to do well this week to qualify):
"Maybe need God to help me. Everybody knows that to win the tournament sometimes you need to be lucky. So I also hope this week God help me, give me the good chance, maybe I don't want to think to win this tournament, I mean I feel it is important just to finish top five..because everybody, ok..don't think too much..relax, enjoy the tournament. My boss, ok, fine, you make top five, maybe you can play the Olympics. So I don't want to think too much. Because I know this two weeks is my chance because Yeangder TPC and next week Taifong Open (ADT)..so I got a chance because I like this course and the next week course because all the Taiwan style. I know the Taiwan green, how to make putt. So this week God help me, thank you very much." (laughs)
SOUNDBITE: (English) Shaun Norris, defending champion:
"I think I'm just going to take it on as it comes. Play the same game as I did last year, I don't think you need to change your game plan or do any introspection."
SOUNDBITE: (English) Shaun Norris, defending champion (on what last year's win meant for him):
"No, it's definitely been pleasing..I've been all over the place. From Asia to Japan and even back in South Africa, so I can't complain about it, my schedule. It's been busy so it's good, I'm looking forward to it."
