Post-game reaction after the Cleveland Cavaliers defeat Golden State Warriors 115-101 in Game 6 of the NBA Finals on Thursday (16 June) in Cleveland, Ohio.
SOUNDBITE (English): Steve Kerr, Golden State Warriors Head Coach
(On Steph Curry's ejection): "I'm happy he threw his mouthpiece. He should be upset. Look, it's The Finals and everybody's competing out there. There are fouls on every play. It's a physical game. I just think that Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, the way we run our offense, we're running, we're cutting through the lane, we're a rhythm offense. If they're going to let Cleveland grab and hold these guys constantly on their cuts and then you're going to call these ticky-tack fouls on the MVP of the league to foul him out, I don't agree with that."
SOUNDBITE (English): Stephen Curry, Golden State Warriors Guard:
(On his feelings on his ejection) "It was just frustration and also kind of, like you said, I thought it was kind of hilarious the way the last two fouls and me blowing up kind of unfolded, and some of the things that were said out there. So it was just kind of, like you said, it is a long walk because, one, you don't want to foul out, you don't want to be ejected, you want to be out there with your teammates. But I immediately kind of started thinking about Game 7 and just the opportunity we've got one game to win it all, and got to take advantage of it."
SOUNDBITE (English): Tyronn Lue, Cleveland Cavaliers Head Coach:
(On why his team has been able to make this turnaround in the series): "(The guys) never want to give in. You know, we had two shaky games in Golden State to start the series, and you know, you can always prepare for them, but until you get in between those lines and see how fast they move, how hard they cut, how hard they play, you really can't get a gauge for it. So I thought Game 1 was, you know, was that test for us. Then Game 2, just kind of got away from us.This team has been fighting all season. We've been through a lot of adversity, even though during the Playoffs we started off 10-0. We've still been through a lot of adversity this year, this season, and our guys are fighters. Kept fighting, kept doing the right things and continued to execute the game plan and that is attack."
SOUNDBITE (English): LeBron James, Cleveland Cavaliers Forward
(On how he and his teammates got to this point of the series): "We had to master up to try to even get to the next play. And it wasn't even trying to get to a Game 7. We were like, okay, well, once we went to Game 5, we went out there and being down 3-1, we were like, okay, well, we've got to go home anyway, so let's go home and play in front of our fans, and we were able to do that. And tonight, these guys were, I mean, unbelievable. Once again, Double T's (Tristan Thompson) energy and activity, his level, his rebounding, obviously giving us extra possessions, but his defensive rebounding from the beginning was at an all-time high level for himself, even though as great as he is, he was spectacular tonight. And Kyrie's (Irving) just a floor general. He does what he does. It's no surprise what he does. And we put ourselves in position to be able to be in a Game 7."
