Many of the world's top players spoke ahead of the 116th US Open at Oakmont Country Club on Monday (13th June), Oakmont, Pennsylvania.
SOUNDBITE (English): Rickie Fowler
"I came up here a few weeks ago. I was up here with Smylie (Kaufman) and Justin (Thomas) and it was nice to get a look at the course before coming here. I got some good work in last week, some nice time home in Jupiter. I'm excited for the week. Got here Saturday afternoon, got a full 18 in yesterday and going to take it easy today and ease into the week."
SOUNDBITE (English): Martin Kaymer
"Yeah, hopefully. Obviously the fans want to see us making lots of birdies and great shots but the big tournament is not only about that. It's really about grinding it out and yes, you need to hit good shots but maybe the result is not always that close to the flag. Maybe it's ten-fifteen feet; that's a great shot. Then it comes down to the putting because putting this week is going to be very challenging, especially when the wind might pick up a little bit."
SOUNDBITE (English): Miguel Tabuena
"Well it means everything. I feel really blessed and lucky to represent my country, the Philippines, in the biggest stage of golf so far for me. Also, to be a part of the Olympics this year, it just means the world to me that I can represent my country in the best way I can."
SOUNDBITE (English): Miguel Tabuena
"Oh, it's a beast. I've only played the back nine. It's probably one of the hardest golf courses I've ever played in my career. But, I just remind myself that it will be hard for everyone and the score won't be under-par. Whoever makes the least mistakes will have the trophy at the end of the week."
SOUNDBITE (English): Miguel Tabuena
"This is everyone's dream to play in big events like this. It will really bring out what we have as golfers and I believe I can compete with the best and that's why I am here."
