Postgame sound after the Golden State Warriors beat the Memphis Grizzlies 125-104 on Wednesday (13 April) at Oracle Arena to set the record for the best regular-season mark in NBA history with a record of 73-9.
SOUNDBITE (English) Festus Ezeli, Golden State Warriors Center (On setting record for the best regular-season mark in NBA history):
"We are in the books officially. Starting out the season we knew that if we maintained our focus and we came every night we had a chance to win every game. But now that we're at this point, this is a surreal moment. We're in the history books for sure. Some day if we go back and think about it it's a great accomplishment on this road to a championship which is the main goal. But this is a major accomplishment."
SOUNDBITE (English) Marries Speights, Golden State Warriors Forward (On setting record for the best regular-season mark in NBA history):
"We all sacrificed for this moment. It's a moment we'll never forget. It's a blessing and you can't really explain it."
SOUNDBITE (English): Steve Kerr, Golden State Warriors Head Coach (On setting record for the best regular-season mark in NBA history):
"Well, it was a great way to finish, finish off what was an amazing regular season. I just told our guys that I never in a million years would have guessed that that record would ever be broken. I thought it was like (Joe) DiMaggio's hit streak, really. And I was wrong but I will say the same thing now that I said 20 years ago. I don't think this one will ever be broken. Somebody's got to go 74 and eight. I don't see it and I hope our fans aren't expecting that next year."
